After spending weeks reading about all the different Embroidery machines out there I purchared the Futura CE-150. Not being a person who sews everyday, I was unsure about something this new. After reading and looking at the CD that came with the unit, I was able to make a small flower. Not bad for someone who only fixed rips in clothes. I own a commercial embroidery machine and with the market being slow, I have to sell my business along with my embroidery machine. I didn’t want to completely stop embroidering so I did some research and this machine has good ratings. I order it and tried it and I love the quality of the embroidery. I also used this machine to make my curtains. You got a good deal with this machine. Combo Sewing and Embroidery in one machine…What a deal!!!!

##what fun this machine has turned out to be##

I purchased this machine originally as a second machine for my small sewing business. I liked the idea of it being able to do some small embroidery work so in case I had a client that wanted their name put on a shirt or other products that I could easily do that. But what fun this machine has turned out to be. It’s very easy to use and the instruction manuals and video are great. About a week after the machine arrived and while I was still getting to know it my mother came for a visit. We had so much fun playing with all the features on this machine. Santa is now bringing her an identical machine for christmas! I also love that this machine will allow me to grow and expand with designs for the embroidery. Since purchasing my machine I’ve also purchased the PED-Basic to use design CD’s and designs from the internet. I think my only complaint is that the Brother software only works on a PC and is not compatible with a Mac. So, I’m borrowing my husband’s laptop to be able to do that stuff. ## Good starter machine ##

I purchased the Brother Se 270d Embroidery Machine as a replacement sewing machine (I had worn out my other one). I wanted to start embroidering and mongraming, but sewing was my main function. I have LOVED playig with this. The only negative I would say is the auto threader, but if you buy the smaller spools it works fine. Mine is missing something that is supposed to allow you to use larger spools, so I have to improvise and it is a REAL PAIN. For a novice embroiderer I would say it is a good starter machine. The hoop size is only 4X4 which can be prohibitive, but for my use it is fine.Since I use it a LOT for clothing, I love the buttonholer and button features and the auto cutter is convenient.If you are mainly going to embroider, I wouldn’t use this one as color changing is time consuming, invest in a multi color machine with a larger base for true embroidery.

## Easy to use and works really well ##

I got Brother Xl3510 Sewing Machine for Xmas last year after reading hundreds of reviews for different machines. I definitely wanted a manual sewing machine (after hearing/reading about lots of problems with the computerized), one could go through some heavy materials- particularly fleece, and wasn’t horribly fussy to deal with.

In general, it’s easy to use and works really well. It’s easy to thread normally (I can’t figure out the automatic threader).

Sometimes, as with most manuals, the needle will skip. You really need to listen for problems with the bobbin and stop as soon as you hear it. Sometimes the bobbin doesn’t catch quite right and it gets itself tangled in the casing. If this happens, you’ll have to really pull gently to get your project to move up enough to carefully cut the threads out. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of.

The only real complaint I have about it is the underpass under the arm is much too small to do any enormous projects (like a bedspread).

If you buy the case with this, as I did, be aware that the case does not snuggly fit the machine and the machine can bounce around and some of the delicate metal parts on the top can bend. This happened once when I put it on the floor of my car to transport it to a friend’s house to do some work. The piece bent back easy enough.

Purchase Singer 7442 Electronic Sewing Machine

I bought this to replace a Brother machine that failed after 15 years. This machine’s embroidery is superior to my old machine. More stitches and the stitches are rendered better. The action is smooth (but it’s the noisiest machine I’ve ever had). I was pleasantly surprised with the construction of the machine, I was expecting cheap construction for such an inexpensive machine.

There are a few bad features. The machine is not very responsive to the presser foot. I’m used to a machine stopping and starting directly with the presser foot. This machine goes a few stitches after the pressure is completely off the foot. And the needle always returns to the up position, so every time you need to turn a corner or do something where the needle must be down, you have to manually crank it a half stitch. The ‘reverse’ button is in a awkward place and there is a really annoying ‘needle threader’ that hangs directly to the right of the needle. This can’t be removed or moved off to the side, so it just hangs in your way. It would have been a much better design to just include a cheap little threader in the storage box for the people who can’t thread a needle by hand.Best Buy Singer 7442 Price Best Price, Buy Now!
